Rina Miele

I am a Photographer
and Videographer
from New York.

I love all aspect of making an image, though when I became fascinated with birds, things escalated quickly. All the gear. All the best ways to capture them. And when photo wasn’t enough, I started leaning hard into video. Video brought a new dimension to my work and encourages people to see something that they haven’t seen before. The bird and the situation inform how the story is told, versus simply shooting a bird in a specific visual style.

I applied this way of thinking from my experience navigating the design world. When I’m not behind the camera, I am a Creative Director and Designer, specializing in developing multifaceted experiences for brands, big and small.

Before and After / Cool and Warm

From five years ago in the pre-dawn hour, when Peach was still with us. He sat on his beloved peach tree perch whenever he could, defending his No. 1 feeder. But it seems he snuck in a quick nap on a white pine in th

Ecto-Cooler Quad Color

Probably one of my favorite shots of the season thus far — and that’s saying a lot! There were so many stunners of these guys!

Definitely pulled back the intensity of the greens (which have been bothering me latel
Another Pebble, Another Plover™

I’ll never tire of shooting these guys. The season is so short, I actually feel I never get enough! So camouflaged and tough to track but I love it.

Side note: The final image carousel image is ridiculous
Who Has the Last Laugh?

These are definitely the best looking gulls around. And their “laughs” are kind of funny! 🤭 Still jerks, but they certainly do it with style! 😬

****I didn’t want to add audio to this post either…
The Trio™

A companion shot to yesterday’s image, there are actually five chicks in this brood, one of which joins the group shortly after this photo.

The Wall of Green™

I’ve been pushing my photography to include more and more of the environments where birds live. It is certainly not easy. It can quickly look like a snapshot, falling flat. But over time I keep getting better at doing
